Funny Photos

Today I was inspired by Julie to post some random funny pictures from over the years that always make me smile! This awesome photo was taken on the fourth of July! While waiting with anticipation for the fireworks to start Lori, Julie and I laid down on the picnic blanket and discovered that our long hair made some pretty amazing mustaches *grins* I love how Julie is grabbing for the end of her 'stach Here I am on a hike at The Tetons, way up and around Jenny Lake. It had been raining a lot the day before so the "trail" had turned into more of a little river. Totally mesmerized by the scenery around me I missed my footing and with arms sprawling in all directions grabbed this vine just in time to save myself from face planting in a huge mud puddle!I'm thankful Julie gave me permission to use this photo *smiles* Here she is cradling all six foot four inches of her dear husband and she appears to be singing him an enchanting tune!! Can't you tell they're so in love *smiles*I love this picture because it reminds me of all the fun times Kenny and I share on our road trips. We can crack each other up for hours on end and boy does that make the time fly!
Here's another one of some of my sweet sisters! This was at Falls Creek church camp in a 110 degree heatwave! (but we're still as cool as ever *laughs*)

The following photos have to be viewed as a grouping....using a tripod and the camera timer we were trying to take some sentimental, romantic engagement pictures... In an attempt to recreate some engagement photos that I had seen recently, Kenny was instructed to "cradle my face lovingly"...We could not stop laughing! He said it felt awkward like he was karate chopping my throatLuckily we "got it together" and just went for a sweet smooch and a few more laughsAnd last but not least, I don't think anyone can see this picture and not laugh *grins* This is my precious nephew Griffin and I just know he's thinking "what in the world is Grandpa doing to my ears!?"
Oh I LOVE that boy!!

Five on Thursday

1. I am absolutely in love with this weather! The sunshine, the low 70 degree temperatures, the lush green grass and bright spring flowers just popping out to greet the world. It IS heaven on earth to me! Here are some of my pansies on my back patio *grins*2. Kenny and I had a crack up fest last night, trying to pronounce the word facetious... FAH SEE SHUS *giggles* we kept saying fa she shush! Then that made me think of all the fun old tongue twisters! She sells sea shells by the seashore, or can you say Peggy Babcock three times fast!? I can barely say it once!

3. Earlier this month I bought some yard signs for my boss and the store gave me a coupon for two free trees in honor of Earth Day. I kind of assumed they would be ten inches tall, or poison sumac *laughs* they are free after all. So I called to get some more information and found out that they would be six feet tall and Redbud and Maple trees! wow!!

So, yesterday my sweet sweet Daddy went with me to pick up the trees. He had hitched up his trailer so we could haul them easily. The store ended up with Oak and Maple trees (no redbuds), so we got one of each. I have since discovered they are willow oak and scarlett red maple trees. I'm pretty excited about the maple tree. It should look like this in the fall...4. I have got some serious travel fever *laughs* we didn't go on a Spring Break trip this year, so it's been quite a while since our last real vacation. Something about this time of my life (ever since college really) I just have the urge to see the world! But as a less expensive option we're seeing the United States *grins* We have a couple different trips thought up in our heads, but the only one we have booked is a glorious trip to Yosemite National Park along with my Mom and Dad in May! Oh boy I am sooooo excited!!
5. We got a brand new king sized bed about two weeks ago and I still cannot believe how big it is! (We were sleeping in a queen sized bed). A king is supposedly sixteen inches wider than a queen, but I am telling you, it has got to be at least three feet wider! I need a sound cone to shout over to Kenny's side *laughs* But it is super comfortable and so nice, we are enjoying it.

Pantry painting

Kenny and I tackled one more project that I happened to photograph along the way, just so I could share it with you guys!! Aren't you excited!? *grins*

We repainted the inside of all of our kitchen cabinets about a year ago. We wanted them to be fresh and clean, bright white inside. Well, I had never gotten around to painting the inside of the pantry, a much bigger space. I was feeling quite in the Spring cleaning mood, so while I cleaned out our entire pantry I decided now was a great time to get to painting too!
Now this is brutal honesty right? I could have cropped all of those pantry items out of the picture, but you guys deserve the truth. Just wait for the after pictures *laughs*
After I cleaned everything out of the pantry and wiped down all the surfaces with TSP, a cleanser and oil remover, my sweet Kenny got right down to business!
When we originally did the kitchen cabinets we tried white paint by itself and white paint over white primer..... well, the primer significantly reduced the number of coats needed to achieve complete coverage, so this time we decided to go straight for the primer. It always sounds like and expensive and unnecessary step to me, but from personal experience we decided it was a must.

We also talked about and debated back and forth about what color to paint the actual shelf surfaces. White works great in our kitchen cabinets where it is mostly plates and glasses inside, but we were concerned that aluminum cans and such would really mark up a white surface.
So, to coordinate with our kitchen (above) we decided to paint the shelf surfaces red. We have also discovered the glory that is dark primer under dark paint. I really love glidden gripper grey primer. It goes on really smooth and covers completely in one coat. (no, I don't work for glidden *laughs*)
Ta-da! We were really pleased with the outcome. It looks bright, cheery and fresh. I love how crisp the red looks against the bright white. I was teasing Kenny that this is our "Boomer Sooner pantry". He said "it looks like Jayhawk red to me"!
After a few days of dry time I loaded all of our goods back inside and couldn't believe all the extra space we have now that I've organized things! I think I'll put my electric mixer on that empty shelf. That way it will be out of the way, but still easily accessible.
I also wanted to show a close up of these cutsey stainless steel canisters that I got for a wedding present. I just now finally filled them with flour and sugar and such and they are just adorable! Love them!!

I'm ready to tackle some more home projects! Bring on the work! *grins*
