The Kentucky Derby

Whew what a great weekend! Kenny's Mom and Dad came down to visit us and we just had such a great time with them!

Friday night we all ordered Chili's to go and Denny and Cecilia got to come over and see all the work we've been doing on the house and some of the plans we have for the near future *grins*

Saturday afternoon was such a treat. We all went to Remington Park and got to enjoy all the sights and sounds of the Kentucky Derby! Horse races on big screen TVs, ladies in huge fancy hats, excitement and anticipation! Wow!
When we first arrived at the race track we were debating about whether or not to valet park. You see, it had been raining on and off all morning. Well, at this precise moment the rain had stopped and you could see the sun starting to peek out of the clouds to make his grand appearance for the day. So, we concluded that it would be easier to park and walk into Remington Park.

Kenny's mom sweetly brought an umbrella just in case and I was trying to decide if we should just leave it in the car to keep our hands free inside the park. Well, Kenny found a great secluded parking place on the second level and just as we were getting ready to vacate the car storm of all storms broke free and we quickly grabbed the umbrella.

Buckets and buckets of water were pouring down from all angles as we were dashing across the parking lots. Some how I was the lucky one who was protected by the umbrella (thank you Cecilia *grins*) but I still got soaked. By the time we got inside the building we must have looked like some drowned rats! *laughs* My shoes were soaked and my pants absorbed water all the way up to mid thigh! Whoa! But what a fun memory, I know it's one I won't soon forget!

Once we got inside we were able to place some little wagers on the horses. I was so excited and nervous, I've never bet on a horse before. I decided to put five dollars on Mr. Hot Stuff to win it all! *laughs* Keep in mind I have no idea what I'm doing, I just thought that one sounded like a winner (reminded me of Kenny *winks*)

We also went upstairs to the Casino to look around and see all the bright lights. Boy was it ever busy up there! I did manage to win back my five dollars playing black jack on a little video machine. So I guess you could say I broke even for the day! *smiles*

We decided to head back home to watch the actual race because the moment that horse crossed the finish line we had to JUMP in the car to go play an indoor soccer match! We watched with anticipation as the horses got all lined up and POW the gunshot and they.were.off!!It's amazing how fast a horse race goes by, all the excitement and hoopla of the day for a mere 120 seconds around the track! Still, I was glued to that TV set!

Well, I think Mr. Hot Stuff came in d-e-a-d last *laughs* That's okay.... I have the REAL Mr. Hot Stuff and HE's a WINNER!
